The 60% trap

Between £100,000 and £125,140 your personal allowance is being clawed back at 50p per pound. Combined with 40% income tax, that's a 60% effective marginal rate. Pension contributions and gift aid pull income back below £100k and reclaim the allowance — often the highest-leverage move a higher earner can make.
